Diocese of Knoxville Schools Superintendent, Mary Ann Deschaine, shares her thoughts regarding Catholic Schools Week and appreciation for all who make the Catholic schools communities so strong.

This weekend, we will gather as a community of faith for Commitment Weekend and reflect on the many blessings and boundless love we have received from Christ. During this time, we’ll also have the opportunity to support our Bishop’s Appeal for Ministries and extend a helping hand to those in need.

The small, rural parish of St. Ann has launched its first ministry in years to serve its Morgan County neighbors: the Holiday Food Box distribution.

Diocese of Knoxville Chancery offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 22. 

Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in Chattanooga and Sacred Heart Cathedral School in Knoxville have discovered a unique way to honor the faith, reuse a valuable natural resource, and at the same time raise funds for vital projects.

On the darkest night of the year, the winter solstice, the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus was aglow with candlelight. A Rorate Mass in honor of Our Lady for the religious communities of the Diocese of Knoxville was held on Dec. 21, with the public invited to attend.

While bishops may take a cautious approach to the Vatican's guidance on blessing same-sex or other unmarried couples, they should not deny their priests the possibility of discerning and imparting blessings on people who ask for them, the Vatican doctrinal office said.

The Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus will begin installation of the second half of its pipe organ this month. The project includes construction of a platform in the choir loft and will take about four weeks.
